Alborán away day - 16 March 2012 - Results
29 people took part in the away day to Alboran on Friday 16 March 2012. Sharon Sly and Jacqui Mays were the organisers for this event.
It was quite an early start for most, although not quite as early as the Playa Serena Seniors match.
The coach did the usual pick ups around Almerimar to take players down to the clubhouse to collect their equipment before heading off to Alboran.
The journey took about 40 mins and we arrived in plenty of time before our 1st tee time of 10.30am.
It gave people a chance to have a coffee or for the more energetic, practice on the range and putting green. Jacqui handed out scorecards on arrival at the pro shop where we were told that 1/2 of our groups could start from the 1st tee and the others from the 10th tee.
What was strange was the 150 metre marker posts. Think they put them on the wrong side facing forward!
Everyone enjoyed a much deserved lunch following our golf. Lunch was lentils stew/soup to start accompanied by mixed salad put onto the tables to share. Followed by grilled chicken and thinly sliced potatoes. Dessert was a baked apple. All very good and the Alboran staff looked after us well. Also included in the price of the lunch was 2 glasses of wine or soft drink or beer per person.
Onto the prize giving and the winners on the day were as follows:
Best man - Alan Sly - 38 points
Best lady - Joan Edgington - 38 points
Best front 9 - Jacqui Mays - 20 points
Best back 9 - Marie-Anne Pettersson - 17 points
Near pin hole 2 - Sune Jönsson - 13.90m
Near pin hole 6 - Sune Jönsson - 14.30m
Near pin hole 12 - Rolf Jönegård - 12.50m
Near pin hole 17 - Joan Edgington - 3.60m
Well done to Alan and Joan for great scoring especially on an away course. They both received handicap cuts for their good play. See here in the Gallery for all the photos of the day.
Also congrats to Sune for winning 2 of the near pins. These 2 par 3's on the front 9 are not at all easy, as most of us will testify. With handicap indexes of 3 & 5 they are difficult to reach and accuracy is vital to score well on them.
21 people entered the twos sweep organised by Mr President. However nobody in the sweep scored a 2. So the 105 euros collected as the twos prize was raffled at the lunch. The lucky winners were:
Nina Taylor (below) - 65 euros
Sylvia Green - 25 euros
Bryn Jones - 15 euros
After the prize giving, we loaded up the coach and made our way back to Almerimar with entertainment on board via Mr President and Marianne who both sang to us all.
The full results were as follows:
|10||Amanda Haase Jones||25.4||30|
