Maria and Rudolph - best lady and man

FGS took a party of twelve people to La Manga on a 4 night break with golf included. We all arrived for check in at around 3pm on the 20th September ready for the weekend ahead.

The package we had included bed, breakfast, evening meal, 3 days golf with choice of 3 courses, South North and West. Plusa drinks package with free bar between 5 pm and midnight. Needless to say we arranged to complete our golf each day to coincide with the 5pm free bar.

Breakfast in the Amapola Restaurant was good. Plenty of choice and chefs there to cook freshly hot items such as fried eggs, omelettes etc.

We opted to play only 2 of the 3 courses available, the South for round 1 and 3 the North for round 2. The courses were in excellent condition even though the South course only re- opened on the day of our arrival after hollow tinning.

The golf format was FGS texas best 2 scramble round 1, pairs better ball round 2, and individual stableford round 3. Prizes were presented for each day plus the overall lady and man winner which were deservedly taken by Maria Hoovers and Rudolf Galliart. Last place went to The President.

Lots of fun was had sitting in the bar after golf enjoying a drink chatting about golf prospects and making the draw for the next day’s play. A further source of amusement late evening was watching Jacs dancing on the Grand Piano in the late bar which had live music each night.

Evening Dinner was also a great event. The complex has several restaurants all of which were available to us. We pre-booked the Amapola for the first and final evenings. There they kindly seated us in a private room which was perfect for prize giving etc as we were no disturbance to other guests. For the intermediate nights by consensus we opted to eat in Luigi’s Italian and the Asian restaurant both of which were excellent.

With great service and pleasant staff the whole experience was enjoyed by all participants. My personal thanks go out to all participants who made the break so enjoyable.
