Sunday competition rules V1.3 March 2016

Rules for the FGS Sunday Competitions at Almerimar - V1.3, March 2016

Prizes (updated in V1.3 to include competitions with 8 - 11 people taking part)

For competitions with 12 or more people taking part first prize is a gift voucher for a meal at a local sponsoring restaurant to the value of 50 euros. Prizes other than first prize in these competitions will be gift vouchers for use in Carrefour or for the sponsoring restaurant (if the value of the prize is 20 euros or more).

For competitions with 8-11 players the prizes will be gift vouchers for use in Carrefour.

Prize Giving

For competitions with 8 - 11 people there will be no prize giving event.

For competitions with 12 or more players the prize giving will take place at the local sponsoring restaurant one evening in the week after the event (preferred evening is Wednesday).

The committee requests that as many players taking part and members of the society attend the prize giving ceremony. Also, members who have not taken part in the competition are very welcome to attend the prize giving.

Logistics

The entry fee is 5 euros members and 15 euros for non-members (note: all cards must be marked by an FGS member).

The society will book around 6 - 8 tee times between 08:00 (earliest starting time) and 14:00 (latest starting time) and put up an entry list in the clubhouse. If they prefer players can also book their own tee times between 08:00 (earliest starting time) and 14:00 (latest starting time).

There will be a Competition Box, a Competition Book, Entry Fee Envelopes, a Friday Golf Society Handicap List and a set of competition rules together on the desk at reception in the pro-shop.

On the day of the competition players must pay their own green fee. They then sign the Competition Book with their name and the tee time they are playing at. People write relevant details on the Entry Fee Envelope (date, name, amount of money etc.), put their money in the envelope, seal the envelope then post it in the Competition Box BEFORE TAKING PART IN THE COMPETITION.

Note: At 14:00 (latest starting time) the Competition Book will be removed and no more players can enter the competition.

Tees

The competition is played off tees of the day, not the official tees. Yellow tees for men and red tees for ladies. With the exception of the first tee for men where the FGS local rule is that they play off the blue stone (official blue tee).

Marking your Card

FGS members play off their FRIDAY GOLF SOCIETY HANDICAP. Non-members play off their official handicap.

Your card must be marked by a member of the society who has an FGS golf handicap.

The person marking your card must be at least 18 years old (juniors cannot mark cards).

In the interest of fairness it is recommended that the person marking your card is not a direct relation. However this is not mandatory.

Note that, if necessary, one player in a group may mark more than one card.

On completion of the round scorecards should be checked, signed by both the player and the marker then posted in the Competition Box.

Responsibilities of the player

Each player in the competition is responsible for the following:

•    Signing the Competition Book before taking part in the competition.
•    Paying the entry fee before taking part in the competition.
•    Ensuring that their scorecard is signed by the player and the marker.
•    Ensuring that the GROSS score on each hole is correct
•    Playing by the rules of golf defined by the R&A.

If any player is in breach of the responsibilities in the list above he or she is liable to be disqualified from the competition.

Results

Scorecards will be processed on Sunday and/or Monday with results being published on the FGS site after the prize giving (if there is a prize giving).

Prizes (Updated in V1.3 in March 2016)

The following tables will be used for allocating prizes with all members entry fees being returned as prizes. If guests take part the extra money collected in their entry fees will be added to society funds.
