The weather was hot, hot, hot yesterday. So hot I almost melted. There was hardly a breath of wind to cool us down.
We had 15 players including 1 guest take part. This is the joint lowest number of players in a Friday competition this summer.
The good news about the course is that the greens are no longer getting any worse due to the extreme hot weather we have been having. The green keepers are working hard to try to get them back to how they were earlier in the summer. Following advice from the green keeping section of the Spanish national golf federation.
We played a Best 2 stableford with 2 hidden holes to separate teams with the same score.
The winners with 85 points were Hans O, Elaine, Paul M and Mr President. It was a very close thing at the top. Two teams had the same score and could not be separated by hidden holes. So we had to use lower handicap to separate them.
Last place and chocolates went to Jacqui, Marion, Leonard C and Richard Ö with 76 points. It was also a close thing at the bottom as well. The bottom two teams were only separated by a point.
Nearest the pin was won by Jacqui with a distance of 4.29m. So it was double chocolates for Madam Secretary.
We have processed the cards for handicap changes. We had 8 of the 14 members score 30 points or more. However nobody played better than their handicap. 4 players were in their buffer zone and 10 players got a small increase in handicap. Of the 10 players who had an increase to their exact handicap 2 had an increase in their sloped handicap for the Master course.
First tee time next week is a little earlier at 10:10.
