Earlier today Alan (Mr President), Sharon (Treasurer) and John Wo (Vice-President) met with Miguel, the manager of the golf hotel.
Miguel explained that he has now taken over responsibility for the golf course as well as the hotel. He also explained that Juan Fran and the head green keeper now report to him.
Various items were discussed including work underway on improving the state of the facilities and services provided. Things mentioned included:
- A Spanish Golf Federation green keeper is advising Golf Almerimar about how to improve the state of the course. He is visiting the course every two weeks to check progress. He is also in discussion with the head green keeper at Almerimar just about every day providing assistance and advice.
- There will be an attempt to get a better balance in the booking of tee times between the various parties involved. Locals will probably still only be able to book times one week in advance on most occasions. However more effort will be made to try to accommodate the needs of local golfers. In particular in our case optimising the allocation of tee times to help us try to schedule FGS competitions when the course is busy. We will probably not get everything we would desire but we hope to see some improvement in the scheduling of FGS events.
- Juan Fran will have a focus on the role of caddie master. In particular he is likely to be seen more often on the course gathering feedback from players about the state of the course.
- The design of the pro-shop is going to change to an open plan model. With the windows currently surrounding the pro-shop being removed.
Other things were also discussed. However nothing was agreed about these other items. So keep an eye out here for further status updates in the future.
