After a break due to the pink charity golf competition last week regular Friday golf returned to Almerimar yesterday. It was mainly sunny with a light breeze. However at a various points in the morning a sea mist blew in over the course (as discussed with Ann N - sea mist is also known as sea fret or a haar depending on where you come from).
We played an X x Y + Z competition. Looking back in the records this format can produce a large variation in scores and that happened yesterday.
The winners this week with a fantastic 180 points were Robbie, Declan, Gerda and Colin H. This is believed to bea new record score for this format. I will confirm this when I have checked through all of the history of results on the site. As you may know we have results from Friday golf on the site going back to 2007 which is 4 years before the society existed. However we only started publishing team scores in the results in 2010.
Last place and chocolates went to a team that was not in a safe pair of Hans. Hans O, Hans F, Ann N and Rolf scored 116 points.
Nearest the pin was won by Barbara G with a distance of 1.13m. She missed the putt but got a par and scored 5 points on the hole for her team.
Thanks to David H for assisting with the organisation of the event this week. As he pointed out at the prize giving there were quite a few good individual scores. We will publish details once we have had a chance to process all of the cards for handicapping.
