Sunday competition on 31 March 2013 now confirmed

We can now confirm that the Sunday competition on 31 March 2013 will be going ahead as we have been able to get suitable tee times.

The lead organiser is Lennart. The format is better ball pairs and the sponsor is likely to be Nautico (to be confirmed by Lennart).

Sunday 17 March results published

We have now published the results from the competition last Sunday. We will publish the photos from the prize giving when we have a bit more time.

Well done to the winner Lennart who beat Nina on lower handicap, both with 38 points.

FGS handicap review - March 2013

The handicap committee and the full committee have now completed the latest quarterly FGS handicap review.

The handicaps of a number of players have been changed based on their performance over the last 3 months and on any changes in official handicaps that they have declared.

Please note that any player who scored 30 points or more in an FGS competition since 1 January 2013 has not been considered for an increase in FGS handicap. Irrespective of whether their official handicap has changed or not.

In addition we have also updated the list maintained on the site to take account of changes following the FGS competition last Sunday (17 March 2013).

PS Please note that the prize giving for the Sunday competition will take place this evening at Nautilus from approximately 8pm (the time that Nautilus is scheduled to open). We request as many members as possible to come along and support the sponsor of the competition by attending the prize giving. You are very welcome to attend whether you played in the competition or not.

Friday golf - 15 March 2013

Regular Friday golf returned to Almerimar this week following a couple of weeks off due to the Overs vs. Unders competition and the away day to Alborán.

44 members took part on a beautiful spring day. The sun shone down on us and the wind was calm. We played a best 2 stableford competition with 2 hidden holes. This took place on the Classic course first followed by the front 9 of the Master Course.

The winning team with a score of 91 points was Rosemary, Ger R, Hans F and Albert. Last place and chocolates went to Peter W, David C, Dot P and Wilhelm with a score of 67.

Nearest the pin should have been on hole 8 of the Classic course but due to a little mistake by John Fl was on hole 8 of the Master course. It was won by Jacqui with a distance of 7.38m.

We only had one person play better than their handicap this week. Well done to Nina who scored 38 points.

Prize giving for Sunday 17 March 2013 - at Nautilus on Wednesday 20 March

We can now confirm that the prize giving for the upcoming Sunday competition will take place at Nautilus on the evening of Wednesday 20 March. We plan to meet at Nautilus as soon as it opens at 8pm.

We encourage as many members as possible to come along to the prize giving.

Sunday competition on 17 March is now confirmed

The Sunday competition this coming Sunday is now confirmed as we have been able to book some times on the course. The notice about the competition will be put up on the board tomorrow.

The format is Individual Stableford and we believe that the sponsor will be Nautlius. However we have to call in and see them to make sure they will be open when we want to do the prize giving one evening next week.

Congratulations to the Overs on their 9 - 0 victory yesterday.

As mentioned at the dinner at Nautilus last night the committee will be considering ways of making the match fairer next year.

PLEASE NOTE THAT DUE TO CIRCUMSTANCES BEYOND OUR CONTROL WE HAVE HAD TO MOVE THE TEE TIMES TO LATER IN THE DAY ON SATURDAY 2 MARCH 2013.

Here is the start list for the Unders vs. Overs on Saturday 2 March 2013.

Unders men will play off the official yellow stones. Overs men will play off the official blue tees. Unders ladies will play off the official red tees. Overs ladies will play off the red tees of the day (except on holes 8 & 12 when they will play off teh FGS tees).

Boule - 27 February 2013

It was a windy day on the boule pistes in Almerimar today. So much so that we curtailed the competition and adjourned to Yachting Golf earlier than expected.

2 more players needed for the Overs/Unders on 2 March 2013

We need 2 more players to make up the numbers in the Overs vs. Unders competition at Almerimar this coming Saturday (2 March 2013).

Please note that as we are asking for a small number of people to make the sides even these people do not have to attend the prize giving dinner on the Saturday evening.

If you wish to take part please contact a member of the committee as soon as possible.

Please note that there will be no regular Friday golf in 9 days time on Friday 1 March 2013.

This is because the final major of the season, The Overs vs. Unders, is taking place on Saturday 2 March 2013. See the item in the Featured Items menu for more details.

Please note that the closing date for entry in the Overs vs. Unders is Tueday 26 February 2013. So please let us know soon if you wish to take part.

It is expected that the post competition prize giving dinner will take place at Nautilus. This should be confirmed very soon.

Short mat bowls - 20 February 13
