It was quite an interesting day at Friday golf yesterday. We started off with 3 Doris teams and ended up with 4 1/2 Doris players taking part. I took my first shot of the day and decided my back was so bad I could not play. Chris P had to stop playing after 9 holes as her back started to play up.
We played an X x Y + Z competition on the Classic course followed by the Front 9 of the Master course. The weather was OK but the wind got up quite a bit on the second 9 holes (front 9 of the Master course).
The greens have all just been hollow tined and top dressed so putting was rather difficult. Nevertheless there were some good individual scores.
The winners with 128 points were Ray B, Michelle (2nd week in a row), Penny (replacing me) and Doris5 with a score of 128 points.
Last place and chocolates went to Mr President, John Fl, Joan and Hans F with 107 points.
It was double chocolates for Mr "Flashy" Flynn as he won nearest the pin on the 8th hole on the Classic course. He was quite a way away with a distance of 7.50m.
We have now processed the cards for handicap purposes. Of the 19 1/2 players taking part 10 scored 30 or more points.
3 players scored better than their handicap. Well done to Albert (38 points), Penny (37 points) and Michelle (37 points).
4 players scored in their buffer zone. Leaving 13 players to get a 0.1 increase in their exact FGS handicap.
You can see all the scores from the day on the Master Scoreboard Results page.
The page also has an analysis of the difficulty of the holes yesterday. The two hardest holes were on the front 9 of the Master course. Hole 9 on the Master course was the hardest hole. Hole 2 on the Master course was the 2nd hardest hole. The average score on both holes was more than 2 shots over par.
The easiest hole of the day was hole 6 on the Master course.
Interestingly there were no birdies yesterday and only a total of 46 pars were scored. There were 128 bogies, 103 double bogies, 28 triple bogies or worse and 55 blobs.
Thanks to Albert for doing the prize giving and handing out the bottles this week.
For a second week in a row the new FGS speaker was used to play some music after the prize giving. There was not as much boogieing as last week but still a lot of fun.
First tee time next Friday is 11:06.
